FORREST YOGA INTRODUCTION WORKSHOPS with Dan Matovu, 11th and 12th of September 2010, 11.30-13.30

These two workshops are designed for complete beginners, beginners and people who would like to learn more about the basics of Forrest yoga.

About Forrest yoga: Forrest yoga has been developed by Ana Forrest over 30 years to address the physical and the emotional stresses and challenges of today's people. Effective pose sequences and conscious breathing will help to bring aliveness and balance into your body. Forrest yoga gets you strong and centred by connecting you to your core. It uses heat and deep breathing to move out toxins and create a sense of well-being and health. The long holds in the pose sequences help you flush, oxygenate, and rejuvenate every cell. Forrest yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires that you bring an open mind.

Cost: £15 per workshop or £25 for two workshops.
Cancellation policy: Refund of workshop fees minus £5 administration charge is given only with more than one week notice. No refund with less than one week notice.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
A new 8-week course starting in September 2010 - NEW COURSE

Would you like to have more balance and control, and less stress in your life…?

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (or MBSR) is a way of taking charge of your life and consciously managing your own stress, pain, illness, and the challenges that everyday life and work brings.  MBSR was first developed by one of America’s leading hospitals over 25 years ago for people suffering from chronic pain. Now courses are used widely, in hospitals, stress clinics, in schools, workplaces and well-being centres.

Recently endorsed by the UK National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Foundation for Mental Health,  the course can help you deal better with many aspects of stress, from the mental pressures, anxiety and worry, through to physical symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, digestive or skin problems, or chronic pain.  Really, everyone can benefit from using MBSR.

The course consists of 8 weekly evening classes and a one day course on a Sunday. The work builds up week by week, and is experiential and highly practical. To get the best out of the course, participants should be prepared to spend 40-45 minutes each day working on their Mindfulness practice.  The course includes:

  • Guided instruction in the main Mindfulness practices (meditation and gentle movement) and how to use them
  • Exercises to help you get used to using the techniques in everyday life situations
  • Home practice guidance
  • 3 CDs to help you kick-start your practice and a comprehensive manual to keep you on track.

The class starts on 28th of September 2010, and will be taught by Barbara Reid, an experienced MBSR practitioner and teacher.  She trained at the University of Bangor, the first Mindfulness teacher training centre in the UK, and currently teaches courses at Letchworth Centre for Healthy Living and Atlow Mill Centre for Emotional Education.  The fee for the course is £175, payable in advance.
